Triggered’s YouTube workflow posts public replies. It does not send private messages or guarantee that a reply is seen.
YouTube automation starts with a public comment
Triggered can match a keyword in a comment on a connected YouTube channel and post a public reply. The same idea applies to eligible comments on long-form videos and Shorts: someone asks for a resource using the keyword you chose, and the automation responds in the comment thread.
This is not a YouTube comment-to-DM workflow. Triggered does not provide private YouTube delivery, an Ask First message sequence, or a private file handoff on this platform. Write the response for the public thread, with no personal information, private access tokens, or customer-specific promo codes.
Thanks for asking! The resource is in the video description under ‘Checklist.’
Configure the reply and keep the promise small
- Connect the channel you own through Accounts and grant the requested YouTube permissions.
- Refresh the channel’s videos, then create an automation for the intended channel and video or supported all-video target.
- Choose a clear keyword and the matching mode. Make the video’s call to action use the same word.
- Write a public response that answers the request, save it, and set the automation to active.
- Use a separate viewer account to leave a new matching comment and verify the public reply and Activity receipt.
Do not promise something the destination cannot deliver. If the reply points to a description link, confirm that the link exists and that the viewer can open it without your private account access. Check the mobile experience as well as desktop before using the workflow in a campaign.
Allow for scheduled checks and moderation
Triggered reads YouTube comments through scheduled checks, currently configured every five minutes. This is not an instant-comment webhook. The interval is not a delivery guarantee: API limits, processing, connection problems, or comment moderation can affect when a matching comment becomes available.
Each check reads up to the 100 newest public comment threads on the connected channel. Triggered does not currently paginate through every historical thread, so a busy channel can receive more new comments between checks than this window covers. Treat this as recent-comment monitoring, not an exhaustive comment archive.
If a comment is held for review or not visible to other viewers, do not assume the automation has failed to read a public comment. Confirm the comment’s visibility first. Then inspect Activity for a match or error, rather than repeatedly disconnecting the channel or creating duplicate rules.
Troubleshoot the step that actually failed
- No match: check the selected channel, video, keyword, active status, and whether the test comment is new.
- Match but no public response: inspect the recorded provider error and confirm the channel still allows comments and replies.
- Connection error: follow the Accounts prompt to reauthorize, then make a fresh test comment.
- Reply visible but no click: check the resource and call to action. A successful reply is not proof of a link click or conversion.
Google can require authorization again if permissions are revoked or a connection becomes invalid. Do not promise that users will never need to reconnect. The goal is automatic connection maintenance where supported and a clear explanation when user action is required.
Before using it on a real campaign
Test one matching and one nonmatching comment, confirm that the reply is not duplicated, and read the text in the actual YouTube thread. Keep the reply short enough to feel like an answer, not an advertisement pasted under every comment.
Review the first campaign’s receipts and viewer feedback. Public comment automation handles a repetitive response, but it does not replace moderation or a human answer to a more complicated question. Use the keyword rule for a specific request, and keep the rest of the conversation human.
