The short version

Triggered replies publicly on TikTok. It checks comments on a five-minute schedule and does not currently send TikTok DMs.

A public reply is not a TikTok DM

Triggered’s TikTok integration reads comments on connected accounts’ eligible owned videos, matches the keywords you choose, and posts a public reply. It also records the automation outcome in Activity. TikTok direct-message delivery is not enabled in Triggered, so do not build a campaign that promises an automated private download or code.

Use TikTok automation for a useful public answer, a next step, or a reminder of where the resource lives. Because the response is visible under the video, keep personal information and customer-specific offers out of it. A message that works in an Instagram DM may be inappropriate as a public TikTok comment.

Example public response

Set up one focused test

  1. Connect your approved TikTok account in Triggered, then refresh its videos if the video you want is missing.
  2. Create a public-reply automation for a specific video and choose a distinctive keyword, such as CHECKLIST.
  3. Write the public response, save the automation, and confirm that it is active.
  4. Have a different account leave a new matching comment. Note the time, then allow the scheduled check to run.
  5. Confirm both the reply on TikTok and the matching receipt under the TikTok filter in Activity.

Why a reply may take several minutes

Triggered currently checks TikTok comments on a five-minute schedule rather than receiving every comment instantly. A comment left just after a check will wait for the next one. Provider availability, processing, or a failed scheduled check can add time, so five minutes is a polling interval, not a guaranteed delivery deadline.

Write campaign instructions that remain useful if the response takes a few minutes. Avoid saying ‘instant DM.’ If a fresh matching comment has not produced a receipt after the next scheduled check, inspect the connection and automation before repeating the test. Repeated comments can make the result harder to diagnose.

Know which videos are being checked

The current all-post TikTok workflow checks the 20 newest owned videos. A specifically selected video is also included. ‘All posts’ therefore should not be interpreted as an unlimited historical scan of every video ever published. Select an older campaign video explicitly when it falls outside the recent-video set.

The poller filters out comments from before the account was connected. Use a fresh comment for verification. TikTok can also filter comments or delay their availability, which is another reason to confirm that the comment is visible and that a separate account can see it.

What counts as a successful test?

  • The intended keyword matches on the intended video.
  • The response appears once, publicly, with the correct text.
  • Activity identifies TikTok and shows the outcome for that comment.
  • A nonmatching comment does not receive the campaign response.

A connection badge proves that an account is linked, not that every future reply will succeed. Keep one reproducible test, watch the first campaign’s Activity receipts, and address connection or provider errors when they appear. That is a more useful launch standard than assuming that an approved application guarantees every delivery.
